Dance: The Electric Music: Electric Boogie - Marcia Griffiths Choreograped by: Richard Silver, NYCsDancer@hotmail.com; "1976" http://www.sc.edu/union/Sears/d.electric.htm Description: 4 wall, 22 count, novice linedance Bridge/restart: no Start: Feet together, weight on left foot Note: In 2003 'Ric Silver' contacted the webmasters of a large number of linedance websites (including this one) claiming to be author of the "Electric Slide", steps as given below. Mr Silver also advised that he had retained a legal firm to pursue his copyright claim viz the use of the dance in several movies. Legal action was also threatened against websites not containing 'his' version. It was also claimed that the dance was choreographed in 1976 for the re-opening of Vamps Disco in New York. Discussion in linedance circles concluded that the claim was likely a fraud - the step sheet is in a modern format, the title song was not released until 1981 & he would have no legal control over similar but different dances even if of the same name - even if the claim was true, the burden of proof would lie with Mr Silver. Note also the url given for Mr Silver's version is a university website. My inclusion of his dance on my site in no way sanctions his threats of legal action nor should it be taken as evidence for his claims. * GRAPEVINE Right, TOUCH: 1-2 Step to the right on RIGHT foot, step LEFT foot behind Right foot, 3-4 Step to the right on RIGHT foot, touch LEFT foot next to Right foot & clap, * GRAPEVINE Left, TOUCH: 5-6 Step to the left on LEFT foot, step RIGHT foot behind Left foot, 7-8 Step to the left on LEFT foot, touch RIGHT foot next to Left foot & clap, * WALK BACK, TOUCH: 9-11 Walk back stepping on RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, 12 Touch LEFT foot next to Right foot & clap, * STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH, STEP, TOUCH: 13-14 Step forward on LEFT foot, touch RIGHT foot toe to Left heel & clap, 15-16 Step backward on RIGHT foot, touch LEFT foot toe to Right toe & snap, 17-18 Step forward on LEFT foot, touch RIGHT foot toe to Left heel & clap, 19-20 Step backward on RIGHT foot, touch LEFT foot toe to Right toe & snap, * STEP with 1/4 TURN, HOP: 21-22 Step forward on LEFT foot, turning 1/4 turn to your left, hop.
